Why Teach a Child

Why Teach a Children’s Sunday School Class?

Teaching a children’s Sunday School class is a perfect opportunity for us to fulfill many of the different facets of a Christian’s life.  It is a great way for us to study God’s Word diligently and sharpen our knowledge of the Bible. This is true because as you know, we must first learn and internalize truth ourselves before we are able to teach others.  Not only do we develop our knowledge of Biblical facts and truths, but teaching a class and serving children gives us a wonderful opportunity to demonstrate and model a life similar to Christ’s life. In Philippians, we are told that Christ emptied Himself and took the form of a bond-servant.  The gospels are filled with demonstrations of how Christ continuously served others while living on the earth. As we know, it is a real sacrifice and commitment to teach a class each Sunday. Most of all, what a privilege to serve the Savior who was willing to die for us and know that when we have served and cared for these little ones we have actually served the Lord Jesus Himself.  Matthew 25:40 says, “Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did it to one of these brothers of Mine, even the least of them, you did it to Me. Also Matthew 10:42 says, “And whoever in the name of a disciple gives to one of these little ones even a cup of cold water to drink, truly I say to you he shall not lose his reward.

Why not consider leading a class and take this chance to serve the Lord Jesus?  What could be better than investing in treasures that will live for eternity, while at the same time getting to know our Savior on a more personal level and also gaining a reward in heaven.
