Randy and Evelyn Owens

Randy and Evelyn Owens are the Children’s Ministry Directors of Community Bible Church.  Randy grew up in Walterboro, SC while Evelyn, though born in Baltimore, Maryland, grew up in Beaufort.  They have been married for 26 years and have 6 children ranging in age from 3 to 21.  They have served the Lord together for most of their married life and both have helped in children’s ministries at a local Baptist Church for 10 years and now here at CBC for the last 15 years.  They became the Directors in August of 2003.  Randy enjoys scuba diving for artifacts such as shark’s teeth, Indian artifacts and antique bottles.  Evelyn, who does have an elementary teaching degree and spent some time in a public school classroom, now spends her time home educating her 5 youngest children, and enjoys developing plans, curriculum and activities for the children of CBC.  As Children’s Ministry Directors, Randy and Evelyn together coordinate all children’s events and ministries, including Sunday School, Awana, Kid’s Life, and special events such as Vacation Bible School and Kidfest so that as many people, children AND families, who wish to come and hear about the Lord Jesus may do so.  Together they desire to provide opportunities for the children of this community to come and learn of the love and salvation that our Savior offers.  They hope to minister to families by providing the very best programs for their children that will teach them of Christ and partner with parents to develop children into godly individuals who wish to serve the Lord with all their heart. 

A Personal Message From Randy And Evelyn

       We are thrilled to have the opportunity in planning and leading the many programs offered here at Community Bible Church through our Children’s Ministries.  We have seen firsthand how the family of CBC pulls together and strives for excellence in providing programs for the children in our church and community. What an abundant life Christ gives to those who choose to serve Him, work together with other believers and minister to His body, the local church.  This ministry that is so vital to CBC is one that is meant to meet the needs of our children, but in so many ways provides marvelous blessings for those who actually give of their time and energies week after week.  Many give testimony time and again of the joy and delight they receive in serving our children.  Many share how they have such a great time with the children and how much they have learned from studying and preparing to teach.  How great it is to be part of this enthusiasm and happiness which God has blessed our church family.

       Our prayer is that many more families will come to Community Bible Church and hear the “Good News of Jesus Christ” and experience the life transformation that only our Savior can give. We encourage those who serve alongside us to “press on toward the goal of the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus” (Phil. 3:14). Remember we are a part of God’s plan He has for each of these precious children we serve each week.  There can be no greater joy than knowing that we have had the opportunity to make a difference for eternity in the life of a child.
